Project Overview

Metro Consultancy & Design was appointed to undertake a detailed slope stability assessment of the riverbank at Little Hale Fen as part of the wider bridge and foundation works.

The purpose of the assessment was to confirm the stability of the existing riverbank and assess the potential impact of the proposed bridge, foundation loads and surrounding ground conditions.

Our analysis provided the client with a clear understanding of the slope behaviour and informed the final bridge and foundation design.

Key Project Information

Our Engineering Approach

Our geotechnical team developed a detailed slope stability model using the available ground investigation data, site geometry and proposed loading conditions. The assessment considered:

Slope Stability Analysis

A series of potential slip surfaces were analysed to identify the critical failure mechanism within the riverbank. The modelling considered different loading scenarios, groundwater levels and sensitivity analyses to ensure a robust and safe design solution.

The results demonstrated that the riverbank remains stable with the proposed works, subject to the implementation of the recommended design measures.

Successful Delivery

The slope stability assessment was successfully completed, providing the engineering basis for the bridge and foundation design. The project demonstrates Metro Consultancy & Design's capability to deliver integrated geotechnical and structural engineering solutions for complex infrastructure projects.
